Research
Staff from the Arts Academy are involved in a number of innovative research
programs including two projects underway the 'Exegesis project' and the 'Impact
of the Arts Academy on the City of Ballarat' that are both attracting wide attention.
The
Exegesis project has had recognition via invitation to deliver research
papers at the annual ACUADS national conference and to the international
conference
on the Arts and Humanities at the University of Hawaii in early 2003. This
will be followed by the Arts Academy hosting a Symposium on this topic scheduled
for March 2003, that is likely to feed into a national report on research in
the Visual Arts.
The
Impact of the Academy on the City of Ballarat will deliver a preliminary
report in November / December of this year to UoB Council and to City of
Ballarat
Council. This project will build during 2003 upon this preliminary report to
encompass economic, social, cultural and geographic aspects of the Arts
Academy
on the City and its broader implications at a state & national level.
Other
projects currently underway relate to…
Investigating methods of physically animating computers for use in theatre.
Investigating the influence of the Print Council of Australia on the development
of visual culture in Australia post 1960.
Developing new work in wheelthrown porcelain which involves the development
and construction of new contemporary forms and the expressive use of coloured
glaze.
